BOCK is expanding its transcritical compressor portfolio for the refrigerant R744 (CO2) with a new series featuring LSPM (Line Start Permanent Magnet) motor technology.
The LSPM compressors for use in refrigeration and heat pump systems combine the strengths of robust squirrel-cage asynchronous motors and those of synchronously running permanent magnet motors. This offers numerous advantages for the user: After asynchronous starting, the motor synchronizes to the operating frequency and then runs in synchronous mode without slippage. This simultaneous motor running achieves a higher refrigerant mass flow with an optimized speed and thus more cooling or heating capacity. Since there are no power losses in the rotor, the motor and overall compressor efficiency is increased - by an average of about 6 percent compared to a standard asynchronous motor.
Operation can be flexible, either directly from the mains or via a frequency inverter. Thus, the new transcritical BOCK CO2 compressors with LSPM motors offer economical system solutions with a higher capacity and a plus in efficiency at lower operating costs - and this in combination with the well-known durability of BOCK compressors. Integration into existing concepts is also simple and possible with virtually no change in control effort and system design.
Market launch from June 2022 with three compressor sizes
BOCK will start the market launch of the new CO2 product range on 8th June 2022 with the production of three compressor sizes offering a total of 16 displacement stages from 4.8 to 39.5 m3/h (50 Hz/1,500 rpm). This covers a wide range of capacities, with one compressor each ranging from 9 to 89 kW in medium temperature cooling and 27 to 188 kW in heating.
