Herlin is a professional with expertise in refrigeration, ventilation, and air conditioning. She is known for her work in climate policy advocacy at the national level, which includes MEPS regulation, technical guidelines, and testing methodology.
Herlin continues to support interdisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based policymaking in Indonesia and beyond.
Herlin was Past President of ASHRAE Indonesia Chapter and currently is ASHRAE Region XIII officer.

While the HVAC industry has focused heavily on improving energy efficiency, the next major shift toward carbon neutrality will be driven by embodied carbon. Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) are emerging as a critical tool to provide transparent, standardized data on the carbon impact of HVAC products—yet adoption within the industry remains limited.
This presentation will introduce the fundamentals of EPD, including an overview of EPD platforms, how HVAC products are developed and listed under EPD, and the step-by-step process involved in obtaining an EPD. It will provide practical insight into how manufacturers and engineers can engage with EPD today, preparing the industry for its growing importance in the coming years.

Law Kok Zhen (Kozen) start his career as product application engineer who has 15 years experiences in HVAC Industry. In his 15 years career journey, he has deep knowledges with air filtration products, cleanroom structures, chiller equipment and VRF systems. He published a paper at ASHRAE conference in year 2019 titled “Impaction of Air filter standards ASHRAE 52.2-2017 & ISO 16890-2016 on industry”.
Currently he is the President of ASHRAE Malaysia Chapter and was Past Regional Young Engineering Chair of ASHRAE Region 13. In the field of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), he is a certified ISO 14064 Green House Gases Practitioner equipped with carbon calculation expertise and EPD (Environment Product Declaration) application skill.

主要从事节能环保领域的标准与标识、节能技术、政策措施的研究制定工作。主持参加了房间空调器、多联式空调机组、冷水机组、电冰箱、冷库及冷凝机组、泛能网术语、换热器等 50余项国家能源环保标准。获得国家质检总局“科技兴检奖”二等奖2项、“中国标准创新贡献奖”一等奖1项和二等奖2项、省部级特等奖1项和二等奖3项。
He is mainly engaged in the research and formulation of standards and labeling, energy-saving technologies, policies and measures in the field of energy conservation and environmental protection. He has presided over and participated in the formulation of more than 50 national energy and environmental protection standards covering room air conditioners, VRF units, water chillers, refrigerators, cold stores and condensing units, pan-energy network terminology, heat exchangers, etc. He has received two Second Prizes of the “Science and Technology Award for Inspection Development” from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, one First Prize and two Second Prizes of the “China Standards Innovation and Contribution Awards”, one Special Provincial Award and three Second Provincial Awards.

Senior HVAC system engineer with seven years of in-depth experience in the refrigeration industry, leading the design of various products including ducted air conditioners, cassette air conditioners and VRF systems. He participated in the sub-project “Performance Improvement of Terminal Units and Development of Unified Terminals” under the national 13th Five-Year Plan project “Building Heating and Air Conditioning Solutions for the Yangtze River Basin”. He has authored more than 20 patents and is proficient in low-GWP refrigerant replacement technologies such as R32 and R290, as well as energy efficiency improvement strategies. With solid scientific research background and rich practical experience, he is committed to promoting the green transformation of commercial air conditioners and the achievement of the “Dual Carbon” goals through technological innovation.

靳晓钒,美的楼宇性能开发高级工程师,主要负责屋顶机、燃气产品的开发工作。近几年主要工作业绩: 1)2019年担任双层结构变频5Ton屋顶机项目经理,模块化设计,兼容燃气、热泵、电辅热三种形式,项目获得年度专利布局二等奖及精益设计一等奖,产品获得北美Energystar认证;2)2020年主导北美轻商屋顶机开发,实现轻商屋顶机突破进入AHRI商用制冷及燃气产品OEM厂商行列。 3)2021年作为项目经理开发出新型高耐腐蚀全铝蒸发器变频屋顶机; 同时完成全系屋顶机2023能效升级; 4)2023、2024年分别主导完成全系内机产品、及全系屋顶机产品的R454B制冷剂切换。
Jin Xiaofan is a Senior Engineer of Performance Development at Midea Building Technologies, mainly responsible for the development of rooftop units and gas-fired products. Major achievements in recent years: 1) In 2019, he served as Project Manager of the dual-structure inverter 5-ton rooftop unit with modular design compatible with gas, heat pump and electric auxiliary heating modes. The project won the Second Prize of Annual Patent Layout and First Prize of Lean Design, and the product obtained North America ENERGY STAR certification. 2) In 2020, he led the development of North American light commercial rooftop units, making Midea a qualified OEM manufacturer for AHRI-certified commercial refrigeration and gas products. 3) In 2021, as Project Manager, he developed a new inverter rooftop unit with a high-corrosion-resistance all-aluminum evaporator, and completed the 2023 energy efficiency upgrade of the full lineup of rooftop units. 4) In 2023 and 2024, he led the completion of R454B refrigerant conversion for the full lineup of indoor units and rooftop units respectively.

Dr. Akio Miyara has been a Professor at Saga University since 2003 and a WPI Visiting Professor at the Research Center for NEXT-RP, Kyushu University, since 2016. His research interests include the thermophysical properties of next-generation refrigerants, condensation and boiling heat transfer of low-GWP pure and mixed refrigerants, and ground-source heat pumps. He has published over 130 journal papers in these fields. He is an honorary member of the Japan Society of Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (JSRAE), vice-president of the Heat Transfer Society of Japan (HTSJ), and director of the Japan Society of Thermophysical Properties (JSTP). He served as president of the ASHRAE Japan Chapter from 2018 to 2020 and as vice-president of JSRAE from 2019 to 2022. He continues to be actively engaged in various academic and professional activities.
