- product introduction:The Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TEV) controls the flow of liquid refrigerant entering the direct expansion (DX)
evaporator by maintaining a constant superheat of the refrigerant vapor at the outlet evaporator. The TEV controls
the difference between the actual temperature and the saturation temperature of the refrigerant corresponding to
the suction pressure at the sending bulb location; this is superheat. By controlling superheat, the TEV keeps nearly
the entire evaporator surface active while preventing liquid refrigerant from returning to the compressor. The ability
of the TEV to match refrigerant flow to the rate at which refrigerant can be vaporized in the evaporator makes the
TEV the ideal expansion device for most air conditioning and refrigeration applications.
The type-M is a relatively large valve incorporating the same outstanding design features found in smaller valves.
All working parts are accessible and replaceable. While ordering, the externally equalized model is required. The
flanges and solder bushings of the Type-M Valve are interchangeable with the V Valve.
The type-V Valves provide smooth and accurate regulation for large air conditioning applications. The V Valve is provided
with a double seating piston operated by one push rod. This construction, utilizing two ports with divided flow of the
refrigerant in opposite direction, provides a semi-balanced pressure differential across the piston and facilitates close
regulation over a wide range of loads. A synthetic seating surface on the piston provides tight shut-off of the valve
during off-periods and the V Valve may be used with the 180 Solenoid Pilot Control. To maintain tight shut-off we
recommend that a full size Filter-Drier be installed in the liquid line ahead of these valves.
